On the 10th, Japanese media, including Nikkan Sports, announced the list of special matches to be held at the Fukuoka Mizuho Paypay Dome, Softbank's home stadium, on March 23. The event marks the 20th anniversary of Softbank's re-launch of Daie Hawks.
Lee Dae-ho was also named in the commemorative game led by Koji Akiyama and Kimiyasu Kudo, who were the core of Softbank's pitching in the past.
The team composition will be selected through the draft by Akiyama and Kudo on the same day.
After joining the Lotte Giants in 2001, Lee entered Japan after finishing the 2011 season. After playing for the Orix Buffaloes from 2012-2013, he played for Softbank for two years from 2014.
Lee Dae-ho warmed up his first year at Softbank with a batting average of 0.300 with 19 home runs, and then hit .282 with 31 home runs the following year.
SoftBank won the title for two consecutive years from 2014 to 2015, and Lee Dae-ho received the Japan Series MVP award in 2015. Lee is the only Korean to win the award.
Based on this performance, Lee Dae-ho joined the Seattle Mariners in the Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2016 and experienced U.S. baseball for a season.
Lee Dae-ho, who returned to his hometown team Lotte in 2017, retired after continuing his career until last year.
Lee Dae-ho also threw the first pitch at Softbank's home game in May 2023, and he will continue his relationship by being named on the commemorative game list this time.
